About

This is a plain, static index of the open source licences that come up most often. There is no account, no tracking and no JavaScript beyond a few lines that set the year in the footer.

Where the texts come from

All 18 texts are taken from the SPDX licence list and served unchanged. If a text here ever differs from the one published by SPDX or by the licence steward, theirs is the correct one.

What the notes are

The grouping and the one-line descriptions are written by us. They are a reading aid, not a legal opinion, and they deliberately leave out the edge cases that make licence choice interesting. Read the text.

What is missing

Dual-licensing schemes, the older Artistic and BSD-4-Clause variants, and the long tail of company-specific licences. The list covers what people actually pick, not everything SPDX knows about.
